steadycam test
well.. i had a good amount of freelance stuff so had to stop my surreal futuristic environment.... and then.... once freelance was done i had a lot of new classes to teach so Ive been mostly creating content for those classes. Here is a simple exercise made with a steady-cam for the iPhone..its a pretty cool gadget :D
here is the test ill be using for class. sorry you-tube makes it loose quality.. ill probably need to upload an HD720 video to see if the quality improves..

surreal/scifi futuristic metropolis
Hello again.. not very savvy on how this blog stuff works so i don't know if i should keep editing the previous post or just making new ones... but ohh well...
Well.. its been a while since the last activity... mainly because Ive been learning about "linear workflow" and how to implement a linear workflow in mental ray.. I think i'm finally getting it. its just a little hard to let go of old tricks and techniques and implement new and i guess improved techniques........(I'm sure that teaching this is going to be a world in its own hehe..) but anyways... here are some progress stills of the project.
this was an early lighting and color scheme test for the city

this one is a wip of the first texturing/shading pass.

and then i stopped since i needed an interior for a class.. sooo i decided to add an interior so here are some screen-caps of the development of such.

lastly.. although still in the works. "since i am not sure yet if i want to marry this two project together... here is a comp test of both exterior and interior.

i am still not very sure about the results so i am going to be fleshing out the interior first and then. I'll come back to the exterior but Im not sure yet if i am going to be treating them as one big project or just two separate projects... we'll see what happens :P.
thanks and i hope you you like where this is going :)

surreal/scifi futuristic metropolis
long time no updates... here is a screencap of a small project i took on for myself. It is a 3d version of this incredible concept art i found online... i remember seeing it a while back and i was awestruck by it.. time passed and i forgot about that concept..... then... recently, I had to create content for a new class i am teaching for the MFA at DMAC... so i thought it would be cool to create this surreal cityscape for the bg of the project...... as i was doing research on references and inspiration i came across the same concept art i had seen a while back. and again.. i was awestruck.. sooo.. i decided to tackle it....
ive been working on this for like 3 weeks now.. ( off and on at night) the modeling of the BG is almost complete... the base textures and base lighting is done but it needs to go through a refinement... anyways.. here is a maya screencap without textures...
will post back in once there is significant progress :D
Bye...

white castle
this is the R&D for a shoot for white castle... i shot my GF using a little helmet i designed to get solid object tracking..
this was the final project... they decided not to use the little hemet.. so we had to do manual 3d rotoscoping.
